Den Haag Binnenstebuiten, Portrait of a city in lino-cuts – 1998-2001.
A portrait of the city of The Hague through wall-sized linocut portraits of 9 of its inhabitants and the interior of their houses. The lino-cuts are reminiscent of Medieval wall-hangings/tapestries. You can read in them the story of the portrayed and how they live in The Hague. The images are made after photographs of the house the portrayed lives in and information gathered in extensive interviews. In 2001 the project was exhibited in the Atrium of the Then Hague Cityhall. An accompanying booklet tells you some of the stories behind the images with fragments of the interviews.
